and one more...

I am listenign to this one in the studio.
Sy Montgomery is reading it herself -which is all the more lovely !
The astonishing world of the Octopus -a love affair!

The Soul of an Octopus: A Surprising Exploration into the Wonder of Consciousness

Good Read

I am currently reading a lovely book about the science , the gifts, the mystery and spirit of plants and our interconnection with the natural world.
I think if all people in the world could just get glimpse of that interconnectedness  that we all have with the natural world -as we are part of it -we would all care more, feel more content , feel more belonging and feel that we are at home.

Message from the Grandmothers

"As you move through these changing times… be easy on yourself and be easy on one another... You are at the beginning of something new. You are learning a new way of being. You will find that you are working less in the yang modes that you are used to. You will stop working so hard at getting from point 'a' to point 'b' the way you have in the past.. but will instead spend more time experiencing yourself in the whole and your place in it. Instead of traveling to a goal out there.. you will voyage deeper into yourself.
Your mother's mother's mother knew how to do this. Your ancestors from long ago knew how to do this. They knew the power of the feminine principle and because you carry their DNA in in your body.. this wisdom and this way of being is within you. Call on it.. call it up. Invite your ancestors in. As the yang based habits and the decaying institutions on our planet begin to crumble.. look up. A breeze is stirring. Feel the sun on your wings."

What's on my mind

Recently the news about the attacks on women in Cologne affected me deeply. When I was a young woman living in Berlin I was frequently  molested by Muslim men, either in words or physically. It has left a strong mark.
Yet, the problem is complex.
Our colonial history has left a mark on all these countries. We've taken and fought wars over their resources, esp. oil. But what have we done to help these countries to get lifted out of poverty, unemployment, education and medical infrastructure? We only 'free' them from their rulers if those seem to not play along to our western rules. What is our responsibility here?

These two articles tackle aspects of this discussion well. http://www.theguardian.com/world/2016/jan/16/germans-accept-arabs?CMP=fb_gu
