Send a Holiday Card !
We used to have our doorways garlanded with cards and photos from friends this time of year, now I only see beautiful cards in stores -non land in my mail box. I have so much fun creating one every year for about 40 friends, business partners and family. I am sad to see this tradition leaving in our tech infused world.

Greys
Today 's time in the studio felt very satisfying.Especially since I over painted the background of this paining above ( not completely finished) , something I have never done before. The painting is the green one you see in an older post. Below are photos of my friend Jill - artist, book shop owner and delightful travel companion. You can find her blog here: http://smallgeo.blogspot.com/.
Thinking of greys and turning 50 very soon , this blog is just gorgeous and uplifting :http://thisis50.me/ .We all need more of that.

studio
I am always interested in artists' spaces, what's on the walls, what they are reading and listening to while working. Kind of the stuff around making the art. So here is a shot from today. I have new, really bright LED lights, which are making a huge difference this time of year. I do like natural light the best to work with.
These days I am listening to Sigur Ros from Iceland when I am really trying to focus, a lot of NPR when I am prepping or filling out and I love audio books. Next on the list is John Steinbecks' "Grapes of Wrath". I just reread "Of Mice and Men" with my 6th grader book group -what an incredible author.

These are my current reads -you can see when it comes to blogging I am still a beginner without tech help -as I can't spin this image. So please spin your computer... Going Native is Tom Harmer's account of finding his spiritual home with a Pacific Northwest Native tribe. Elizabeth Is Missing is the amazing 1st person narrative of an elder with dementia. Fascinating and frightening and funny. Slow Sex is simply a must read. Especially in this world of mass stimulus everywhere.
